A pale-celadon jade Hu ,cover and handle in archaistic form.

This rectangular shaped Hu on a stepped base is decorated on its lower half with a ‘tao tie’ mask on the front and back, with a single raised animal mask above. The vessel has a stepped cover carved with archaistic motifs, and a Greek key design. The swing handle is of ridged form terminating in the top with two dragon heads either side of a disk. The base is incised with a four-character Qianlong mark in seal script and is of the period.
